GIANCARLO VENTURINI
ABOUT
Giancarlo’s current work revolves around the exploration of queer love as it relates to distance, desire, and longing. Loving from a distance has always been a salient feature in queer relationships. Experiencing queer love and love in many other forms overseas, his relationship to distance gets largely exaggerated within his works through the use of structure and chaos as a way to represent the distance between two points. This results in contrasting layers of multi-stylized objects or backgrounds to generate a disconnection. Subtly, he sets out to bridge this disconnection through a conceptual binding of objects within their fragmented spaces to ground the image.
Giancarlo received his BFA (Bachelors of Fine Arts) from Mason Gross School of the Arts and is currently pursuing his MFA (Masters of Fine Arts) at Virginia Commonwealth University.
